Finished my master thesis in winter 2023 and started working as a full-stack web developer a couple months later.
I like learning and trying new things. In my free time I play guitar, ukulele and drums, or video games, watch YouTube, read X (formerly Twitter) or meet friends. I also do partner dances (Forró and Bachata) and other sports, e.g climbing (without harness in a gym), roundnet/spikeball, workouts, table football, running, or trying out new sports. In the past, I have been ambitiously playing table tennis for 10 years with some local successes in tournaments and one major supraregional team title.
Learning How to Learn & Roadmappy.com
I am interested in the meta-cognition of learning, i.e. understanding better how humans can learn most efficiently and how software can be aid. I believe software solutions can be one fun and engaging way to learn. For example, language learning app Duolingo, Rhythm games (e.g. Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Rocksmith), etc. (btw I also built my own Rhythm game clone, which visualizes notes from a midi file and recognizes played notes from a midi instrument)
When learning something new, I see the problem that you need prior knowledge to associate the new information with to gain understanding. If you lack this prior knowledge it is difficult to make sense of new material.
So, I built a web application that tries to teach topics by presenting content in multiple hierarchically linked mind maps and flow chart graphics. The idea is that the highest level graphic provides an easy-to-grasp overview. You can select individual topic nodes and read a summary explanation. You can also dive a level deeper and are presented with another graphic which presents the same topic in more detail.
You can try it out 100% for free and let me know what you think: roadmappy.com Currently, since having a full-time job, the project is a bit on hold. I'll try to buit a better v2, and add more content eventually. Always happy to chat about this stuff.
